How ironic that I spent 2 hours in the prairie yesterday and saw nary a dragonfly. I am afraid the census so far reflects a population drop in the Wolf Road Prairie. And today while working in my garden - wow! 2 dragonflies flitted in for a short visit! Sob! No camera with me for the first one - he didn't stay long but I think I identified it as a male Painted Skimmer. I ran in the house to get my camera but he was long gone when I returned. And oh wonder! About an hour later - she appeared and was courteous enough to hold still for a couple shots. She's a female Green Darner.
